The IICAR is envisioned as a vehicle for promoting, retrieving, supervising, documenting and carrying out historical, social, cultural and anthropological research on the Iranian society for educational purposes as well as for social planning and human resources development. The IICAR by focusing mainly on the fieldwork-based research in the heart of the Iranian society aims to observe, analyze and assess the social and cultural issues. The IICAR contributes to improve the education and research of social science in Iran and provides appropriate responses from a social point of view, to the problems and challenges facing the Iranian society more particularly to the attention of public authorities and decision-makers. In this regard, the IICAR is committed to provide a coherent and thoughtful vision of the realities of the Iranian society, based on evidence.
The other objective of the IICAR is to demonstrate and analyze the role and place of the rich and ancient Iranian culture in the process of globalization. To this end, the missions of the IICAR are to:
- Identify and present the skills and capacities of the Iranian society and its culture in the current globalized world
- Precise and measure the social and cultural impact of the globalization on the Iranian society and conversely the influence of the Iranian culture
- Present the cultural heritage of the Iranian-Islamic World at both national and international levels
The IICAR encourages foreign and Iranian young researchers and students to carry out research in different fields of the Iranian society and culture and also extends and strengthens the cooperation with foreign academic institutions. In this respect, under the framework of joint training programs in particular with French universities, at master, doctoral and postdoctoral levels, foreign researchers and students for the purpose of empirical study have stayed in Iran and Iranian experts and academics have been sent abroad for specialization training or post-graduate studies.
